How to enable soft keys/Navigation bar on android devices

If you don’t know what soft keys are, take a look at the picture below. Soft Keys were introduced in android with the first Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) device, the Galaxy Nexus. Most of the current devices running on Android 4.0 and above, come with hardware buttons but if your hardware get damaged or simply you love soft keys or on screen navigation than what. Well the story not ends here just keep reading. Soft keys or the navigation bar can be enabled easily by following the below steps.

If you use this trick carelessly than your phone can be bricked. I will not responsible of that.


YOU NEED:-


Root browser [XDA] [Androidapk]

Android device with root access and 70% battery.

FOLLOW GIVEN STEPS:-


1.) Download root browser and install it.


2.) Open root browser and mount the system partition as read-write instead of read only. Grant superuser/root access when it prompts.


3.) Go to the system folder present in the root of file system. i.e the path- /system
 enable soft keys/Navigation bar on android devices

4.) Open build.prop with RB text editor
 enable soft keys/Navigation bar on android devices

5.) Add this line to the end of the file
     qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
 enable soft keys/Navigation bar on android devices

6.) Reboot your phone


7.) Hurray!!!    You now have soft keys on your device.
